Although trampolining has only been an Olympic sport for the last ten years since its introduction at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, it has already produced a number of champions, who have become an inspiration to many around the world.
In 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, China won their first gold medal in trampolining when female gymnast He Wenna won the gold medal after her routine that earned an impressive final score of 37.80 points. In the female competition, silver was taken by Karen Cockburn of Canada while bronze was won by Ekaterina Khilko of Uzbekistan.

While China dominated the Beijing Olympics, America has previously been one of the leading countries in the sport. Before it became an Olympic event, America dominated the sport, winning 14 world titles from the first Trampoline World Championships in 1964 – 1974.
Although they didn't win medals in 2008, US gymnasts Chris Estrada and Erin Blanchard have dominated competitions for the last several years and are two of the biggest names in the sport. Meanwhile, Great Britain have their hopes in the hands of James Higgins, Steve Walsh, Nicholas Joyce, Steven Williams, Kat Driscoll, Amanda Parker, Jaime Moore and Laura Gallagher for the Olympic Games 2012, all of whom performed at the World Championship in 2009.
