Emma Smith Takes Bronze Trampoline Medal

18 year old Emma Smith recently took the bronze medal in the Trampoline World Cup competition in Spain after becoming the highest-achieving European girl at the event.

Emma, from Widnes, went above and beyond all pre tournament speculation by claiming the podium position.

“I didn’t expect to get a medal. I just turned up and wanted to stay on the trampoline,” she said. “It feels pretty amazing considering I finished behind two Chinese girls who are the best in the world.
“Everyone says it’s a really big achievement for me because I finished behind the world champion and the Olympic champion.”

It is the biggest competition Emma has competed in as an open-age competitor after performing for Great Britain at junior and senior level for three years.

She is now looking forward to the World Cup event in Germany in October, and keep an eye on the name for the British Olympics in 2010.
