Work is underway to build the UK’s first ever Olympic standard trampoline centre

WORK to build the UK’s first ever Olympic standard trampoline centre has got off to a flying start in Brentwood.

A £750,000 scheme to transform run down Keys Hall, in Warley, into a centre of excellence for trampolining, has started. It is due to be completed by mid September.

The facility will become home to Brentwood-based Recoil Twisters Trampoline Club.

The centre will boast sunken floor level trampolines and mirrored walls, as well as 11-metre-high ceilings.

Funding for the project came from Essex County Council, Brentwood Council, Gymnastics England and fundraising by the Recoil club.

The new facility will be open seven days a week, offering daytime and evening trampoline sessions for all abilities and ages, from tots through to adults.

The main trampoline hall will house up to nine permanently-erected trampolines, which will be sunken to floor level, providing a safer and more accessible training arena.

There will also be a viewing gallery and ancillary rooms, including a coaching classroom, a large reception area and office space.

Project director and chairman of Recoil Twisters, Trisha Johnston, said she was thrilled work had finally started at Keys Hall.

She said: “I am so proud to be involved in the development and delivery of such an amazing project.

“This will be a unique community facility, which will be a wonderful asset for the people of Brentwood and surrounding areas.

“Whether it be for those wanting to take up the sport for fun and fitness, or if you are a dedicated high performance bouncer, the new facility will accommodate you.

“The trampoline centre of excellence will also boast a disability suite.

“This area will have its own entrance with immediate access from nearby disabled parking bays, into a reception area with specialist changing and toilet facilities, a sensory room and an activity room.”
