Launchpad to fitness..

There is a great blog on the Wall Street Journal Site here on Sean Espley on his discovery of using a trampoline as part of a fitness routine and how beneficial it is. Tak

Sean trains at Sky Zone, which is an indoor trampoline park in America that is proving very popular at the moment, and we recently blogged about similar ones called House of Air and Airheads.

Sean Espley has a bounce in his step. When the California civil servant first laid eyes on Sky Zone, an indoor trampoline park in Rocklin, Calif., he was intrigued. “I’m a workout junkie,” says Mr. Espley, 56 years old. “How hard could bouncing on a trampoline be?” He decided to find out and signed up for a class.

During his first class, Mr. Espley found himself doing jumping jacks and running from trampoline to trampoline. “The whole concept doesn’t sound difficult,” he says, “but I fell two or three times the first class. It was pretty humbling.” But Mr. Espley was hooked.

“Not only is it fun, but it’s a whole other type of workout that you can’t get anywhere else,” he says. “It challenges your muscles in a totally new way.”

Mr. Espley exercises as a relief from his desk-bound work as a forensic document examiner, which requires close reading and attention to detail. He works for the California Department of Justice, authenticating documents and making judgments about their provenance. His work involves verifying signatures and deciding whether a document has been forged.

Sky Zone has set up contiguous trampolines to form a large surface on which several people can be active at the same time. “Imagine a football field made from trampolines,” Mr. Espley says.

I love trampolines! They are a great way to exercise and so much fun. Rebounding is great but I like full size trampolines. In Phoenix, where I’m from, our indoor trampoline park is called JumpStreet. The video about Sky Zone was very entertaining. :)
